Anyone else having a hard time finding ANY meat at all on your bi-weekly trip to the store? One of the few items I have been able to find nearly every trip is ground turkey.
Turkey is low in fat and is a good source of protein. During my latest shopping trip, I picked up a pack of Honeysuckle 99% lean ground turkey breast. In 4oz there are only 120 calories and 28g of protein!
So, next time you are at the store, pick up a pack of ground turkey & try something new!
Ingredients
- 1lb ground turkey
- 1/2c shredded mozzarella (or crumbled feta for a tangy/rich flavor)
- 1tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2tsp red pepper flakes
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1c cilantro, chopped
Directions
1. Mix ground turkey, Italian seasoning, crushed red pepper flakes, minced garlic cheese, cilantro.
2. Heat a skillet over medium & add 1-2 tbsp of butter or olive oil. Roll meat into 12 balls & cook for 9-11 minutes on all sides.
3. While cooking, take some of the juice & pour back over meatballs to keep them moist (basting). Cook meatballs until all sides are browned & reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
Try pairing your meatballs with a side of zucchini noodles, toss in spaghetti, or use for meatball subs!
